Revellers took to Birmingham's infamous nightclub strip on Friday night to start the early May Bank Holiday.

Rain didn't prevent the partygoers coming out to have fun with many using coats or handbags to shield their hair from the elements.

Two lads sat at a bus stop shelter with a cardboard cut-out of Louis Tomlinson they got from a nearby venue.

Rosies nightclub was especially busy with queues snaking around barriers.

Two scantily-clad fire breathers entertained passersby at Walkabout and pub-goers enjoyed music at Heidi's Bier Bar as they danced on the road facing beer garden under heater lighting.

Many ended the night with a takeaway and a taxi home to bed.

Thousands are expected to go out over the weekend as people enjoy time off with Saturday expected to be the busiest with dry weather conditions predicted.
