A caring restaurant owner has adopted 13 stray cats over 10 years in China.

Ms Xiao has been feeding the felines and setting up makeshift shelters for them for over a decade in Siping, Jilin.

Footage shows her placing a bowl of milk beside a calico cat's food outside her establishment on April 28.

Operating a barbecue restaurant, she often closes late at night when the felines emerge to search of food.

Five years ago, she began adopting the animals, which then freely roamed the premises.

In her region, winters can be extremely cold, with temperatures dropping to several tens of degrees below zero Celsius.

During these times, she takes the cats home to keep them warm and ensures they are vaccinated and receive regular check-ups, which she pays for form her own pocket.

Ms Xiao said: 'My current financial situation isn't enough to support all of them, but I am striving to earn more money for these adorable cats.'
