This is the hilarious moment a tourist was told off by police - for putting his bald head in a fish spa.

The middle-aged holidaymaker raised eyebrows when he wandered shirtless into the store with the tanks of red garra that nibble on people's feet to exfoliate the dead skin.

However, what the tourist did next baffled everyone.

The man - seemingly trying to cool off from the 34C heat - plunged his freshly shaven noggin into the cold water as dozens of the creatures bit his skin.

He was enjoying the tingling sensation from the fish before he was interrupted by an armed cop who gave him a ticking off and moved him on.

The confused shop owner said: 'I've never seen anybody do this before. Nobody has even asked about doing it. Perhaps he was just trying to cool off or he had too much beer.'

Footage shows how the man wandered over to neighbouring stores before lighting a cigarette and striding off into the night along in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on May 7.

The owner said the man spoke English but did not know his nationality.

The red garra fish, also known as the doctor fish or nibble fish, are small freshwater fish belonging to the cyprinid family.

They are used in fish spa treatments in which people put their feet into tanks of water while the creatures bite their dead skin, leaving them with smoother skin like the effect from pedicure treatments.
