This is the terrifying moment a violent storm blew down office doors in front of terrified staff in Thailand.

The gale toppled the glass doors as a downpour lashed the local government department in Phetchabun province at 3 pm on May 13.

A shocked office worker named Yui said she and her colleagues had felt rain spraying from the gaps in the door frame when the doors themselves were blown down by a strong gust of wind.

She said: 'My friends and I ran away just in time. Another staff member sitting near the door was almost hit. Luckily she was sitting down so the frame missed her head.'

A nearby hut was damaged, while rubbish and debris littered the area around the office. No injuries were reported.

The Thai Meteorological Department forecasted that northern Thailand, including Phetchabun, would experience hot to very hot weather with haze during the day, while scattered thundershowers with gusty winds were expected in the afternoon.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
