Dramatic POV footage of the moment the brakes on a go-kart failed at 102km/h during the Queensland State Championships in Warwick, UK on Saturday, causing it to plow into the barriers.

A sincere thank-you to all the officials, volunteers, medics, #19 Evan Brannock for lifting off the kart and mum and dad for assisting after the incident.

Overall it was a still a great weekend, (although a engine was blown on the friday and a kart is completely wrecked) I really enjoyed competing against some really great and competitive drivers.

In slow motion you can see my helmet being forced up against the neck brace, saving my neck. Also you cant see it on video, but I remember my back slamming into the road and the feeling of the rib proctector around my back absorbing and spreading the energy of the impact over my back. A real testament to the great design of the helmet, neck brace, rib protector and suit. (zero pain in my head and very minor pain in my neck and back, no lacerations or cuts)

How and Why did this happen?
A metal component in front of the master cylinder broke off (subjected to constant force by pressing the brake pedal), disconnecting the brake pedal from the master cylinder.
We have used the brakes for 25 race meetings for over about 1 year. Now on we will be checking and replacing these parts to avoid this issue from ever happening again.

Check, maintain and replace your brake components people, especially if they have been in use for quite a while. Otherwise this is more likely to happen.

It might sound a bit insane or crazy to some people but iam looking forward to jump back into a kart and keep improving and learning from my experiences.
