An impressive video has emerged of a garter snake trying to attack a man in his garden in Toronto, Canada.

The footage, shot earlier this year, shows the reptile jumping twice at the man's camera as he captures a video.

"After a few minutes of this, I was able to pick the snake up by its tail & placed it in my recycling box before my sister and brother-in-law came home to let the dog out," he wrote online.

Arriving home from work on a Friday night... I noticed something in the backyard to my basement apartment. A rather large Garter Snake, that was slithering around, that had recently eaten something. I walked over to it, and it started to attack my shoes. I had never seen a snake like this be so violent to someone. I dropped my stuff off in my apartment and proceded to tape the snake with my camera. I got very close to the snake & it attacked my camera, not once but twice. I brought a stick over towards the snake & it attacked the leaves on it as well. After a few minutes of this, I was able to pick the snake up by its tail & placed it in my Recycling box before my Sister & Brother-in-law came home to let the dog out.
