While at the edge of a state forest this friendly Ruffed Grouse came wondering up to our group.

Ruffed Grouse is the state bird of Pennsylvania and is also known as a "partridge", or Bonasa umbellus

The bird is common in Pennsylvania forests and does not migratory.

It seemed very friendly and even pecked at a few hands looking for handouts.

You can hear call.
