At 07:10 the 170-01 commercial box was dropped for a reported fire at Polar Tech Industries along SR 487 (West Valley Ave). Pd arrived and confirmed a working fire. Engine 174 and Truck 294 arrived first due and assumed first due engine and truck responsibilities as Engine 631 secured a water supply. Additional crews from Shamokin, Mt Carmel, Kulpmont, Catawissa, and Danville were called along with the box alarm and due to manpower issues. Crews were able to contain the fire with in approximately 30 minutes. Units were on scene for about 3 hours. Good work and good stop by all personnel.

The fire forced more than 2 dozen employees out into the cool morning shortly after 07:06 hrs.
Fire fighters upon arrival found flames visible from the “C” side of the manufacturing warehouse and quickly contained the blaze to piles of plastic in a storage area.
The fire was quickly brought under control with overhaul still be conducted at 09:00 hrs.

Polar Tech, manufacturers temperature sensitive packaging materials, shipping containers and ice packs, and has operated at the site since 2012.

Apparatus from Columbia, Montour, and Northumberland Counties responded to this incident.
