Father explains object permanence phenomenon with cucumbers
An interesting video has emerged of a father illustrating object permanence with his baby.
The footage, shot on Saturday at a home in Napanee, ON, Canada, shows YouTuber Viva Frei showing a piece of cucumber to his son before he hides it under a coconut shell.
His son can be seen trying to grab the cucumber until it disappears under the coconut, leaving the baby confused and appearing to think that the vegetable has seized to exist.
"Object Permanence is the understanding that objects continue to exist even they cannot be seen," Viva Frei wrote online.
"It's something that babies only learn at about 18 months," he added.
