Footage has emerged of frustrated commuters playing motorway football after a suspicious object was found under a bridge near Milton Keynes in England.

Police closed the M1 between Junctions 15 and 14 for more than six hours in both directions from Tuesday (September 19) morning.

The filmer writes: "With the M1 now being closed for over six hours, frustrated motorists have taken to relieving the boredom by playing football on the north-bound carriageway."

The video also shows huge tailbacks of parked cars on the motorway.

In a statement, Thames Valley Police said there is "no explosive element to the object found, however chemical analysis is ongoing on the object to ascertain what the object might be but it appears to be some form of chemical."
