Video has emerged from one of the hardest-hit areas of the northern California fires showing the blaze approaching the area's famed vineyards.

Video from Tuesday (October 10) shows plumes of smoke rising from the fire and appearing to be heading in the direction of Glen Ellen, from where the filmer captured the footage, while wineries can be seen in the foreground.

Communities in Sonoma and Napa continue to be under siege from smoke, while the death toll, which currently stands at 31, is expected to rise.
