Massive amount of people waiting in line for Ryan Air custom service at Stansted Airport after numerous flight has been cancelled
I can't put into words how crazy day today was, and how much I appreciate all the help and support I've received. Thank you all! ❤ Here's the story:
My flight from London to Copenhagen was supposed to depart 12.05, but I prefer to be early when flying so I travelled to the airport already at 7.30. I had a bad feeling already on the bus on the way there, as it had trouble with the brakes in the snow. We arrived at the airport a little delayed at 9 o clock, still plenty of time to go and I had nu luggage to check in. I went through security, and kept an eye on my phone to see if Ryan Air would update the scheduele and delay the flight - nothing, everything was supposed to be on time. At 9.30 they cancel my flight, without any information what to do whatsoever. I pretty much ran to the exit to get back to the customer service desk at the entrance. Already there are like 400 people in line, so I join the queue and start looking online for information.
According to their website you should be able to log into Ryan Air's website or app and update your flight in case of a cancelled flight. Neither me or anyone else was able to do so however. Their chat was offline, even if it was supposed to be open. When one passenger finally reached their customer service (20 min phone queue), she was told the flight wasn't officially cancelled, and she had to wait in the line to get a refund.
The queue grew quickly, and soon the whole airport were full of travelers who had nowhere to go and no idea what to do. There were litteraly thousands of us. Meanwhile, they called in extra security and had 20+ cops in place, some watching over us with riffles. I got hungry, tired and needed to go the bathroom so badly, and after 9 hours of standing in the queue I gave up. No one got any help, and the police officers started screaming and threaten people who wanted to go the bathroom with their kids (without giving up their spot in the queue that they had stood in for countless hours).
