Cyclist sent spinning over car after running red light
Shocking video of the moment a cyclist was hit by a car at a Chicago intersection, sending him cartwheeling over the vehicle.
In the video, the cyclist, who is not wearing a helmet, appears to run a red light.
The driver stops her vehicle and a fire engine arrives on the scene.
Writes the filmer: " On Tuesday, June 18 a cyclist in Chicago slowly pedals into the intersection of Halsted and Roosevelt, appearing to have breached the intersection on a red light when he's suddenly forcibly hit, sending the man over the car's roof and landing several feet away.
"The incident occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. in the 700 block of West Roosevelt Road. The bicyclist, a 32-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
"The 22-year-old female driver of the car remained on the scene and was not cited by the police."
According to a local website, the injured man was taken to a hospital. A woman who identified herself as the mother of the cyclist said that he was later "alert and oriented," the website reported.
