Heads were turned around central London today when an original Lancaster Bomber cockpit was driven around the capital.

The stunt was part of a commemoration for the "Dam Busters" air raid, which celebrated its 75th anniversary this year.

On February 26 1943, the Air Ministry gave the go ahead for the audacious raid, which saw 19 Lancaster Bombers attack the dams of the Ruhr Valley with the famous "bouncing bomb" designed by inventor Barnes Wallis.

The actual raid took place on the May 17 1943 and 75 years to the day a special evening will come live from the Royal Albert Hall.

Dan Snow will host a night of commemoration which will be streamed to cinemas across the UK before a screening of the classic British film "The Dam Busters", which has been restored in 4K for the first time.
