In Indonesia there is a show that uses monkeys. Usually called a monkey mask. A monkey is trained to perform several actions, such as playing a wooden guitar, riding a motorcycle toy, a toy bike, walking with an umbrella or running while wearing a mask.

Performance mask monkey is mostly done by people of Java. They used to perform in housing, street, alley or in crowded places.

Usually monkey mask players consist of a person who directs a monkey while holding a rope tied to a monkey's neck, then one or two people play music consisting of a drum, a small gamelan or a simple and inexpensive keyboard.

Usually before the show ends then the monkey will be given a plastic bag and brought it around to go to the audience while hoping to be given coins 500 or 1000 rupiah. But sometimes there are also spectators who give more, 5000 or 10000 rupiah.

After that the monkey mask players will tidy up their show equipment and go around again to another place.
