When most people think of cherry blossom season Japan is usually the first place that comes to mind. The Japanese passionately celebrate the season in what feels like a giant Sakura Garden. But it’s neighbor and once colony to the south, Taiwan, also enjoys a sakura season, although it’s on a much smaller scale Taiwanese still enjoy viewing Sakura in natural and urban surroundings. One of the most popular Sakura viewing sites in Northern Taiwan is at the Tianyuan Taoist Temple complex in New Taipei’s Danshui District. With a Pagoda modelled after Beijing’s Temple of Heaven and a beautiful backdrop of mountains this is truly one of the most striking spots for Sakura in East Asia.
