Protesters hit the streets of Paris throwing bins and bottles after students in one of the biggest universities in the French capital blockaded themselves inside their classrooms.

Video shows a group of people marching through the street near Austerlitz station, in the 13th Arrondissement, overturning bins and shouting near midnight on Monday, April 9.

The incident comes amid waves of protests around universities in France against reforms by Emmanuel Macron's government and support from students.

Students at the Sorbonne-1 University in Paris have been blockaded in a theatre hall since April 6.

The protesters disagree with Macron's proposed change to how students are selected for universities, and said they would occupy the building until it is dropped.
