Dog stuck behind door

I found her dog, Max, on Craigslist this past December for a birthday gift for my wife. Max is still a puppy, under one year of age, and was found wandering on someone's property after Hurricane Harvey hit through our town. He's been a great dog, but sometimes we question his intelligence. His heart is inversely proportional to his brain. We have realized that he is very much intimidated by partially closed doors. Sometimes we will find him seemingly trapped in a room or closet, simply because the door is not opened 100% of the way. Even though he can open the door, it's as if it's incredibly frightening for him to do so. This again happened last night as we got the video of him, struggling and afraid to open the door. Finally, after much encouragement and with the Lure of a walk, our dog finally made it through!
