TURANO LAKE (ITALY) ON DRONE

Buy video

At an altitude of 536 meter, Lake Turano is a large hydroelectric reservoir formed on the river Turano with the construction of the dam in 1939 near the built-up area of Posticciola. About 10-km long, it is linked to Lake Salto by a tunnel and supplies the Cotilia power station. Halfway along the lake, two towns face each other: Colle di Tora on a peninsula and Castel di Tora on its rocky hill, with its name recalling the ancient Sabine-Roman town of Thiora.

Castel di Tora, with its medieval appearance, is dominated by the tower of the old castle.
