When Max the German Shepherd realised his paws weren't quite long enough to relieve an itch on his back, he decided on the next best alternative: to flip over, rub his body on the carpet, and let the friction do the scratching.

The video, shared to Twitter on June 6 and taken in Southern California, shows the dog rolling over to have his back to the carpet. He then proceeds to move vigorously against the surface, his head, paws and tail flailing wildly at the same time.
