Hurricane Michael's landfall in Mexico Beach on October 10 left a trail of destruction, flattening houses and downing trees in the Florida Panhandle city.

At least 18 hurricane-related deaths have been reported in four states as rescue crew searched through collapsed homes and rubble, with one death in Mexico Beach. Mayor Al Cathey told media that 46 people were still missing or unaccounted for.

This video shows a drive through one of the hardest hit parts of the city. Collapsed houses and piles of debris can be seen along the side of the roads.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) employees were going to start going through shelters and in damaged neighborhoods to start registering people for federal assistance that is available to residents after a disaster, according to local reports.

Electricity and telephone services were slowly being restored to Mexico City residents, but authorities predict weeks before power is back for all households.
