The acts were getting ready for a festival on August 23 at the Yuciyegong Temple in Chiayi City, Taiwan.

The stages were set on the back of vehicles and decorated in colourful oriental patterns.

More than 400 different groups took part, each with their own puppet show.

Shi Rongshu, the administrator of Yuchi Gong Temple, said: ''There was only one shed at the beginning, followed by six or seven sheds. Then it was ten sheds, forty, fitfy and they kept increasing. Now there are more than 400 puppet sheds.''

Yu Ciye Gong Temple was built in the Republic of China in 59 years. The local believers pointed out that praying for good health, prosperous business or smooth examinations is quite effective. For more than 40 years, the reciprocal drama has been grandized year by year.

Thanks to the gods, the believers themselves invited the troupe to become a grand religious celebration of the year. They also attracted many tourists to come here specially. More than 400 groups of wild troupes played all the way to the evening, and the lively and rolling scenes were spectacular.
