Base jumper's terrifying parachute accident in Malaysia

An amazing video has emerged of a base jumper’s parachute becoming dangerously tangled during a jump in Malaysia.

Annette Lyn O’Neil captured the dramatic footage from her helmet-mounted camera when she jumped off the iconic Menara Kuala Lumpur Tower in late September.

Annette can be heard cracking a joke with her jumping partner Brett Kisler before she launches herself off the top of the 335 metre high tower.

But as soon as she opens her parachute it twists and tangles so severely that the steering handles are not accessible and Annette has to reach above them to manipulate the glider.

Miraculously Annette, with her years of experience, managed to land safely, and without any injuries, on a street below.

Speaking of the accident, Annette later wrote online: “I had jumped this equipment about a hundred times before with no issues. This jump was an excellent example of the fact that, sometimes, one of the carefully balanced variables goes a little askew and the jumper is presented with an excellent opportunity to demonstrate that they paid attention to the worst-case scenario procedures.”
