Robert Rodriguez's live-action adaptation of Alita: Battle Angel premieres in London's Leicester Square Thursday night.

Cast and crew in attendance included James Cameron, Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Yukito Kishiro, and many others.

Jon Landau, who produced the movie, said that he and his good friend Guillermo del Toro read the book, as fathers, and “want to make this movie to tell young people everywhere that they can make a change to the world they live in.”

Rosa Salazar, who plays Alita, says she felt a kinship to Alita and her story. “I come from humble beginnings.”

The world premiere of Alita: Battle Angel on the blue carpet with interviews hosted by Alex Zane. Stellar cast and crew attended, including James Cameron, (producer/co-screenwriter), Rosa Salazar (Alita), Christoph Waltz (Dr Dyson Ido), Jennifer Connolly (Chiren), Keean Johnson (Hugo), Robert Rodriguez (director), Jon Landau (producer), Yukito Kishiro (author of Alita graphic novel) and Dua Lipa (title track singer).

The film has been adapted from Yukito Kishiro’s manga novel Gunnm. It is less scary, presumably for the younger audience, but Yukito is OK with that: “As a creator, it doesn’t have to be violent.”
