Controversial 'Black Pete' parade in the Netherlands
Footage of a Christmas festival featuring people dress up as the controversial ‘Zwarte Piet’ (Black Pete) character in Nijkerk, The Netherlands on Saturday.
The event, which celebrates the arrival of Saint Nicholas along with his jester companion ‘Black Pete’, has drawn much criticism from people who say the tradition of actors painting their faces black is racist.
According to news reports, police officers went on to arrest 60 protesters at a similar celebration in the Dutch city of Gouda later in the day.
