A fly past took place in the skies today (February 22) over Sheffield to round out more than three hours of commemorations for an American bomber crash that killed 10 airmen the same day in 1944.

Footage from the event show the 10 different military planes that formed the fly past, which was in memory of the crew of the B17 Flying Fortress bomber "Mi Amigo", who perished in a crash while trying to land their damaged plane in a field.

The fly past which took place at 8.45am included four F15 Strike Eagle fighter jets from RAF Lakenheath, with other aircraft including a KC-135 Stratotanker, a MC-130J Commando II, a CV-22 Osprey from RAF Mildenhall, and a Typhoon and a Dakota from RAF Coningsby.
