An oil tanker burst into flames after a collision with another lorry on a highway in Malaysia yesterday (23 February), killing the driver.

Video footage, filmed at Slim River Sungkai, Perak, on the North-South (PLUS) Expressway, showed the diesel from the tanker spilling onto the side of the highway, setting the vegetation by the roadside on fire and spewing thick smoke into the air.

The tanker's burning wreckage then experiences a smaller explosion, with the spilt cargo leaving a trail of smoke and fire around the accident.

The accident involved the oil tanker and a lorry, laden with retail goods, that collided that morning at around 8:51am, and three fire engines were sent to the scene.

This blocked the two-lane expressway, causing traffic congestion for several kilometres.
