The neighbors of the district of Letras and Lavapiés have manifested this Tuesday against the tourist flats of their neighborhoods. and to stop its uncontrolled proliferation in some neighborhoods and municipalities of the region. The FRAVM and the neighborhood associations of the Center of Madrid and other districts of the capital affected by this phenomenon, such as Chamberí or Retiro, have been waiting for the Government to approve the project they have in their hands for more than a year, a text for which they filed numerous complaints and allegations. In which the manager of this in the government Angel Garrido will leave the presidency of the Community of Madrid to stand as a candidate of the PP to the next elections to the European Parliament without fixing this problem.
The demonstration has gone through Huertas and León streets and Antón Martín square, to continue along Magdalena street and has descended to Plaza de Lavapiés on Ave María street. It is a journey plagued by tourist flats and other types of accommodation that are transforming the area into an authentic tourist theme park and taking out the local Spanish population.
