A fire has broken out at a building in Farringdon, central London.

Eyewitness video shows firefighters dousing a flat near the Fordham London Centre in water. Flames can also be seen through a window.

In a statement, London Fire Brigade said: "Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters have been called to a fire at a flat on Summers Street in Farringdon.

"Half of a four-bedroom flat on the first floor is alight.

"The Brigade's 999 Control Officers have taken 14 calls to the fire.

"The Brigade was called at 1259. Fire crews from Soho , Euston and Shoreditch fire stations are at the scene.

"The cause of the fire is not known at this stage."
