Paraplegic stands for the first time in four years thanks to new support frame
A 19-year-old paraplegic from Texas stands up straight for the first time four years with the help of her new standing frame.
Ivy Babbitt was wheelchair-bound due to an autoimmune disease called CLIPPERS (Chronic Lymphocytic Inflammation in Pontine Perivascular Enhancement Responsive to Steroids) which attacks her brain and spine, making her legs weak and unable to stand or walk.
The inspiring video, filmed on April 26 in Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, shows the moment Ivy took her first stretch standing up since 2015.
“Look, mum, no hands! It’s weird I thought I was going to fall but I’m not!” Ivy can be heard saying in the clip.
