This was the shocking moment office workers close to the Thames spotted a hungry cormorant attempting to devour a struggling eel on June 17.

The aquatic bird can be seen pecking at the stranded eel on the shore as it wriggles on the pebbles, proving difficult for the cormorant to swallow.

It is subsequently harassed by seagulls as the struggle continues when the bird drags it back into the Thames where it eventually consumes the eel.

The filmer commented online: "The struggle continued for a good 10 minutes.

"I thought it was an odd choice to drag the eel into the water though. They disappeared under a few times. That was nerve-wracking, I can tell you."
