Plock city in Poland holds its first gay pride parade

The central Polish city of Plock held its first LGBT+ parade on Saturday.

The event went off peacefully, despite deep divisions over gay rights in the country and a deeply conservative government, accused of encouraging a rise in homophobic prejudice.

Attendees chanted “freedom, equality, tolerance" in this clip.

Around 2,500 people are reported to have attended, including the filmer of this clip, Michal Piekos, who travelled with friends from Gdansk, about 200km away.

The parade in Plock, about 100km outside Warsaw, followed a pride parade in Bialystok in eastern Poland, that was marred by anti-gay violence, three weeks ago.
