Protesters from the climate activist group, Extinction Rebellion blocked several street intersections in New York to protest the destruction of the Amazon rainforest.

The group demonstrated yesterday (September 5) in 3 separate intersections with an interpretive dance and then staged a "die-in" on-site.

The group started by blocking traffic on 6th Avenue at 58th Street, where they held up traffic for about 10 minutes.

After that the group again demonstrated at 6th Avenue and 53rd Street, this time drawing a larger crowd, some bystanders even joined in the dancing.

The last stand was at Lexington Avenue and 51st Street where car horns honked and onlookers stood with their mouths agape watching the dancers move to the best of the lone drummer.

NYPD were following the group's marches, an SRG unit was attempting to follow the group but only a few officers arrived after the final demonstration was complete.

The group then dispersed in the direction of the Brazilian mission to the UN, where a separate protest was already happening against Bolsonaro.
