'There's a BIG great white right behind me!' 13ft shark attacks South African kayaker
A South African fisherman got the scare of a lifetime when a huge great white shark attacked his kayak.
Footage captured off the coast of East London on the Eastern Cape shows a startled Bradley Beamish being tracked by what he said was a 13ft (4m) shark while fishing.
The shark's fins can be seen surfacing behind Beamish's kayak.
"Great white trailing me here. Look at that! BIG great white just behind me. Just attacked my kayak. It's being pretty aggressive!" he says in the video.
Beamish goes on to explain that he has seen "quite a few" great white sharks over the years and was taken aback by the unusually aggressive nature of this one.
"It seemed like it wanted to hit me," he says in the video.
In the video, Beamish also uses underwater file footage (seen here at 1min 11secs) to show another encounter with a previous great white.
"Usually they are not aggressive, usually they just come and check you out," he says.
He later told Newsflare: "In this video, a few friends and I are fishing on our kayaks near East London, South Africa.
"The water was really dirty on the day and as we were paddling back up to our mark a four-metre great white shark hit my kayak from underneath forcing it completely out the water!
"The shark disappeared for a bit then came charging my kayak from behind!
"After the close call, we decided to call it a day and head back to shore!"
