Firefighters are using TikTok to "brighten the mood of Australians" and share experiences from the front lines of Australia’s bushfire crisis.

Samantha Smith-Wells, a 25-year-old volunteer firefighter whose clips have gone viral, tells Newsflare why they do it.

"We are volunteer firefighters with the New South Wales Rural Fire Service. Our crew has been one of many assisting with the blazes we have burning across the state.

"All of our active members also work full time, so have been taking time off work and using our free time to assist with these emergencies. Our crew ranges from around 17-years-old to around 60-years-old.

"I didn’t expect even 1,000 people to watch my TikTok's and we’re at around 169k views on the plank challenge so we were all quite shocked."
