The normally bustling mountain town of Blowing Rock, North Carolina is virtually empty on Thursday (March 26), another deserted sight across the nation as the coronavirus pandemic continues to close down nearly everything.

As of noon Thursday, the United States had more coronavirus confirmed cases than anywhere else in the world.

Thurs., March 26, 2020-Blowing Rock, NC. Fears of the COVID19 spreading to this small tourist mountain town have brought life to a virtual stand still. With a large population of people over 60 and fewer medical resources, the county has ordered all vacation rentals, hotels, RV parks and camp sites closed effective today. This has been done in an effort to discourage people leaving larger cities to escape the virus to smaller communities and possibly bringing the virus with them. Counties across the state have enacted similar measures.
