Captured over the course of three days, this satisfying time-lapse video shows us the unique and animated motions of nature.

The video begins with the tightly wrapped leaf rocking back and forth, with visible water droplets coming out of it.

Once daylight comes, it begins unwrapping and once fully unfurled presents itself toward the light. In one moment you can see the ends of the leaf curling back in the sunlight, as if basking in its warm rays for the first time.

The houseplant is a common taro elephant ear with a deep burgundy stem, lending it the name: black stem elephant ear. According to the owner, it grew rapidly to nearly double its size in less than a year.

Originally posted on the subreddits r/houseplants and r/watchplantsgrow, this video quickly rose to the subreddits front pages.

One user said: "Amazing!!! You can just hear it say “Ahhhh, now I be breathe and be me”"

Another: "I love how they wobble around in circles in these time lapses, it reminds me of someone stretching after having woken up :)"

Why is it making those motions?
One user commented the motions were because: "Turgor pressure is a vortex."

The plant owner is from Adelaide, Australia and says regarding plant care: "bright light/the right spot is key", "in warm weather they drink a lot!". Currently it is "battling spidermites" but the owner has bought "predator mites" to combat them.
