Some of the main streets of the historic center of San Salvador, El Salvador, appear empty before the mandatory quarantine that prevails in the country, in the face of the threat of the coronavirus pandemic (covid-19). Military officials carry out routine checks to verify that people who circulate on the streets do so for a justified reason in accordance with the prevailing state of emergency in the country. In one of the emblematic squares of the country and in the historic center, the Gerardo Barrios square, hundreds of birds or pigeons from Castilla await the few people who circulate to provide them with food; Before the start of the quarantine, many of the people who visited the square usually carry grains to feed these birds. Meanwhile, people who walk the streets are authorized to go out twice a week to buy food for their homes.
