I was walking in the area around the white house and walked into Lafayette Park, where protestors were gathered in the streets and the lawn. They were sharing speeches and chants and then began removing the barriers from the Andrew Jackson statue, seemingly preparing to take it down. They climbed up on it and tied it off, attempting to pull it. However, park police and metropolitan police intervened, marching on the protesters and using what looked like pepper spray to push them out. The police overtook the area around the statue and started closing the park.
