Tornado warning and supercell in Calgary, Alberta

At 2:30 pm MST on July 23rd, a Tornado Warning was issued for the city of Calgary, (Pop. est 1.3 million). A supercell thunderstorm produced a funnel cloud that was briefly tornado warned and also a rare phenomenon called a Gustnado. This view was of both the Funnel Cloud on the left and of the Gustnado developing on the right under a new area of circulation. Video taken on the western edge of the city of Calgary facing the Rocky Mountains. At time of video capture, the Initial assessment was that in fact there was a Tornado was on the ground in a heavily populated urban area. However, further analysis by Environment Canada, numerous storm chasers and multiple eye witness accounts confirmed that it was a Gustnado.
