This was the amazing moment a 20-month-old boy with cerebral palsy surprised his mum by taking his first unaided steps while playing at home in Burnley.

The clip, filmed on February 2, shows Max toddling off while his mum was filming him during playtime at home.

His mum Maxine explained: "I was filming him and he just took off without any indication to me he could do it, which explains my reaction in the video, pure shock but pure happiness!"

Maxine also explained: "Max was born at 26 weeks having lost the amniotic fluid around him at 17 weeks. He wasn't given any hope of life and told to terminate twice, we were told he'd have less than 10 per cent chance of survival and he'd never walk, talk or breathe for himself and that he'd have no value of life, Max is now 20 months old and continues to prove all wrong."
