Extinction Rebellion (XR) climate activists today (November 1st) staged a die-in outside the Spanish parliament in Madrid to highlight causes of death related to climate change.

Under the slogan "Inaction = death" the activists lay down on the Plaza de las Cortes with sheets over them to raise awareness of the threat to human life from dehydration, extreme heat stroke and respiratory failure - all of which, they say, would be exacerbated by climate change.

"Dehydration", "extreme heat stroke" or "respiratory failure" are some of the causes of death related to the climate crisis that appear this morning in front of Congress along with "corpses" in an action of the movement against the ecological emergency Extinction Rebellion (XR).

Madrilenian rebels cover the iconic Plaza de las Cortes with "bodies" - people lying under white sheets pretending to be dead - to symbolize past, present and future victims of the climate crisis. In addition, they seek to highlight some of the deadly forms that this change in climate takes.

Under the slogan "Inaction = death", the action that respects health security measures kicks off a week of rebellion that will last from November 1 to 6. These acts of civil disobedience have already occurred in other countries, such as the United Kingdom, or in other cities of ours, such as Barcelona, Granada or Santander.
