Amazing Grand canyon 'cloud inversion'

Amazing footage has emerged of a rare ‘cloud inversion’ in the Grand Canyon, US.

In the video, captured by a visitor to the national park on Wednesday, the iconic view of the canyon is obscured by thick white clouds.

The phenomenon is caused by caused by cold air becoming trapped by warm air above – leading to condensation and fog forming lower down.

Although this rare event usually only happens every few years, visitors to the Grand Canyon have seen it twice in the last two months.
