French police remove over 2,000 people from makeshift migrant camp near Paris
French police have forcefully moved more than 2,000 people from a makeshift migrant camp near Paris on early Tuesday morning (November 17).
The incident took place in the northern Paris suburb of Saint-Denis near the Stade de France.
According to local media, Paris firefighting crews were deployed as migrants burnt their belongings before leaving.
Seventy busses were used to take the migrants to sports halls and reception centres in the greater Paris region.
According to France Terre Asile, around 2,400 migrants live in the camp, which has been growing since August.
Human rights organisations have condemned the dismantling of the camp.
