Drone footage reveals a flattened family home after a huge explosion in the village of Illingworth, West Yorkshire, in the north of England on Saturday (December 5).

A couple and their son were forced to flee their home on Green Lane in Illingworth, according to reports. The three are said to be recovering in hospital after escaping moments before the explosion.

One neighbour said he was awoken in the early hours by a loud noise and saw debris flying towards his window, UK media reported.

Footage filmed by drone operator and aerial photographer Gary Brown, who is CAA qualified, shows the completely destroyed home.

Investigations into the cause continue, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted earlier on Saturday.
