Gusty winds and heavy rain brought inclement conditions to Penzance, Cornwall, in the early hours of Wednesday (December 16).

Footage shows huge waves smashing against the seafront and strong winds, with seawater making its way onto the road.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning with the possibility of floods in the Penzance area.

The filmer explained: "With the MetOffice yellow warning for wind and rain due to a low-pressure clipping Cornwall.

"We decided to head down to areas around Penzance to check out the conditions.

"Leaving Plymouth and giving enough time to scope out various areas.

"Heading into Penzance we saw waves being taken over the wall, which ended up flying debris and water hitting the main road."
