Cyclone Yasa pummelled the islands in the Fiji archipelago with strong winds and heavy rain as it made landfall on the island of Vanua Levu as the equivalent of a category 4 hurricane.

Footage from @FijiRoads shows trees in Lomalomabeing bent over by winds reported to be up to 240 mph.

Another clip filmed by @JP_007_FJ shows the gale force winds battering trees in Rakiraki District.

The government has declared a "state of natural disaster" for the islands.
