A state of emergency was declared in several counties of New York, including Albany on Thursday, December 17 as much of the region remained shut down due to heavy snow.

Winter storm Gale, the first Nor'easter of the season, brough heavy snow from Wednesday, and forced to close government offices. A majority of flights from Airports in New York were canceled or delayed due to severe weather conditions.
