An artist in Bavaria, southern Germany made this beautiful miniature handcrafted Christmas scene as a present for her mom because although they agreed not to exchange expensive gifts, she still wanted to give her "a little something."

On her Etsy page, Katharine Mayer describes herself as someone that "likes to build magical stuff - like wands and tiny dioramas." She posts videos of her crafts on Instagram as @kath.arsis and in this touching creation as made a tiny box complete with a starry night, Christmas tree and snowman.

Mayer said: "I made this as a Christmas present for my mom, since we agreed on not giving each other any expensive gifts, but I still wanted to give her a little something.

"All of my creations are unique and handcrafted. Everything i create, i create with love and joy," she says online.
