This was the moment a Swedish driver managed to reverse their car from under a huge pile of snow in northern Sweden's Lulea after an intense blizzard hit the region on January 22.

Footage shows the outcome of shovelling around the VW Golf for close to an hour, resulting in being able to reverse the car from beneath a HUGE pile of snow.

The filmer said: "We had a big snowstorm that blew the snow up against the wall and car.

"We had to shovel for about one hour to get it out.

The weight of the snow is so heavy that the wheels of the car are almost touching the wheelhouse."

Northern Sweden is no stranger to wintry weather and this particular snowstorm arrived after already having nearly one foot of snow.

"We already had like 20-30 centimetres and then the blizzard came.

"It snowed for about three days, the video is from the second day.

"The car was there for about two days before we drove it out.

"The car belongs to the friend of my colleague's friend and we kind of forgot it existed.

"When we realized it was out there it wasn’t even visible.

"It was under 2-3 meters of snow."
